We visited Sharpa’s office, with a great turnout and plenty of hands-on time with their hands—including, naturally, playing blackjack. Back at Moissan Club, the founder of Chestnut Robotics brought their dex hand for a live demo and gave an in-depth talk.

And it turns out, you don’t need full dexterity to do amazing things. Meet SO-101: low-cost, 3D printed, and remarkably capable. We now have two arms in a leader/follower setup—the most SO-101s we’ve ever had. Hao also put his on wheels and successfully picked up a soda can from the floor and dropped it into a trash bin. A small step for waste management, a giant leap for affordable mobile manipulation.

Soccer, Handshakes, and Ribbon-Cutting: What kept us - and the robots - busy in August

Hi friends,

August was a busy month at Moissan Club. We set up this group, started Friday open hours, and opened up on-demand visits through our signup page. We also had Ben from Booster stop by to demo the K1 and the latest T2 playing soccer, followed by a great talk on what they’re building. And in a small but important step toward robotic civic leadership, one of our Unitree G1s handled the ribbon cutting at a store grand opening—successfully replacing the Burlingame mayor for approximately five seconds.
