September at Moissan Club: Our Most Advanced Month Yet

Updates about events in September

Hi friends,

September, apparently, is a good month for handing things over. We visited Sharpa’s office, with a great turnout and plenty of hands-on time with their hands—including, naturally, playing blackjack. Back at Moissan Club, the founder of Chestnut Robotics brought their dex hand for a live demo and gave an in-depth talk.

And it turns out, you don’t need full dexterity to do amazing things. Meet SO-101: low-cost, 3D printed, and remarkably capable. We now have two arms in a leader/follower setup—the most SO-101s we’ve ever had. Hao also put his on wheels and successfully picked up a soda can from the floor and dropped it into a trash bin. A small step for waste management, a giant leap for affordable mobile manipulation.

True magic happens when hardware and software come together. We’ve contributed PRs upstream to Hugging Face LeRobot, forked and improved several open-source projects, added audio to the teleop stack, and built unitree_g1_lerobot to bring the 23-DoF G1 into LeRobot—another reminder that “cross-embodiment” is easier said than done. We’re also experimenting with general-purpose VLMs operating robots through a common harness. More on GitHub: https://github.com/MoissanClub/

One more thing

Thanks to Frank, Moissan Club has a new router—and our Wi-Fi is now 10× faster. We think you’re going to love it.

See you soon,

Moissan Club
